Mythology is the study of myths. Mythology is important because we can learn what happen in the past. And how they handled it.  Today we study mythology in school and learn about whats true and whats not.

Bierce uses subtle instances of foreshadowing in “An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge” to gesture to the gap between reality and illusion that widens throughout the story. Bierce’s story hinges heavily on the unexpected final revelation—that Farquhar, far from escaping, has actually been hanged. Although Bierce intends the unexpected ending to startle the readers’ assumptions, he peppers his story with various clues to signal in advance the unreliable and completely fantastical nature of the concluding section. For example, the description of the soldiers’ weapons in the first section—with the company of infantrymen holding their guns at “parade rest” with the butts to the ground and the commanding officer standing with the point of his sword also to the ground—stands in stark contrast to the rounds fired and volley of shots lobbied at Farquhar during his imagined escape. The weapons are in truth merely ceremonial and harmless, and Farquhar is and remains in the company’s custody throughout.

No I don't think that they should put a ocean farm in. This is a bad idea because it coast a lot more then people think. This can put us more in debt. But on the other hand it might save us a lot of money. But it to risky to me. I would have to do a lot more researchers to make sure that its right.

I think its a noble cause because they are fighting for there rights.  These people didnt think it was going to be this big of a thing . I agree of what they are doing. If I could I would join them.

My favorite thing to do in the winter is to go outside and play in the snow with the my little ones. They have a blast we have snow ball fights and build snowmen. Its a lot of fun when we go sleading at sea coast fun park. But it can get really cold so after we go inside to get a nice hot cup of coco.

My word for my life would be exciting, because in my life I travel a lot to see my family all over the country. Also I go to a lot of Nascar because my family works with those types of cars. If I had to change my word I would go to organized because I am not the well organized and need to get better at it.

The story centers on a monkey's paw which has magical powers. It gives to its owner three wishes. The monkey's paw is given to a family of three, father, mother, and son. They wish for some money, and the next day an employee of the company where the son is working arrives at the family's residence and tells the parents that their son has died in an accident and they will receive a monetary compensation, the exact amount they wished for. About a week later, the mother wishes that their son would return home alive. When knocking is heard at the door, the father realizes what has happened and before the mother can open the door, the father uses the last wish. The knocking stops and when the door is opened, no one is there.

 I think that what the article says has good and bad info in it. I would tell the kids that to fit in quick and make friends fast is to join a sport or a club. If they do join a sport they have there friends on the team to help them out. And to keep from getting home sick put pictures up on your walls of friends and family back in your home town. Also work on you English every night so you can talk to people more easily. And yes be patient everything will come to you at some point.

Yes I do think they need to change the law because if you see this thing going on you are just hurting the victim. The man who spoke out about this did the right thing. He shouldn't of have to taken a leave of work because he was trying to help. The man who rapped all these students was wrong and deserves to go to jail. But yes the law should be change.

In children of The river the girl has a Hared time adjusting to school. She hates the people and teachers in the school. She dose not understand most of what they are saying. Her family depends on her to read the mail and paper for them because they can not read. She has nobody she can talk to because she is scared of letting people into her life that she dose not trust.

Genocide is the mass murder of one culture or group of people. One example is Hitler ans the holocaust. Hitler would murder jews simply just because he did not like them. He put them through hell for 4 long years un till they were liberated.

All the kids were out for the day after winter was over. The kids were climbing the trees and branches they were all happy and cheering. The giants hart melted when he saw how happy the kids were. In the corner he saw a little boy who could not climb his tree because it was still all covered in snow. The giant crept down stairs and went outside to try to help the little boy but when the kids saw him the were frighted. And the garden become winter again only the little boy didn't run away. The giant helped the boy and they became friends after that  the giant knocked down the wall between the world and the garden. Later that night he saw the little boys hand nailed to the tree and the giant go red with anger. The little boy said these are wounds of love and that one day they would be together again in the little boys garden witch is Paradise.

When my house burnt down I had to stop fighting with my sister everyday. Also me and my family had to pull together and be there for each other. It was hard trying to keep myself from fighting with my sister because she is 5 years older then me and thinks shes the best and I really hated her. But now she is moved out of the house and I miss her. But at the time we lost are house it was hard and we are much better.

My favorite season is summer because I get to go to North Carolina to see my family. Also I get to see my friends  a lot more. It is really fun when I see my family because I only get to see them like once a year. There are a lot of pool partys and cook outs during the summer.

My views have changed and stayed the same. They have changed because it will bring more jobs to Maine and more singers will come and preform.But they have stayed the same because its money that nobody has right now and its coming out of our taxes. So I really don't know were I stand on this matter.

Yes because if that what their family dose then they want to fit in with the family. But they should learn how to use it safely. They need to take classes before going out to hunt. The kids family should have the guns on safety is on. My family hunts and my cousins  had to take hunter safety classes before my uncle would let them hunt with  him.

The story was about the towns people doing a ritual like they do every year. The ritual is that all the people get to the center of town and watch as the family's of the town pick papers out of a box. All but one of the people in the town have a blank paper the one person with a black smug on the paper has a curse. So what they do is throw stones at the person till they die. This year they didn't have the same box used in past years but they didn't forget to use stones to kill the cursed.

Yes because the culture is for the women and kids to lisen and respect the men of the house. And every sunday the go to church the same church that their parents went to when they were young. So there culture comes from their parents and grandparents.

And think once they see somebody who is perfect to them they know that that person is the one for them. Gorge was smart to say this because now kids his age don't know anything about love or the sole mate.

Also I don't know how he will make these jobs come about like will he have to take some peoples jobs away. I think it is a good idea but I need to know more about it like we should wait a year and then get more info about it then have us vote on it again.

 I would not vote on qestion 3 because I think it is really stupied and a wast of money. If people put more money into things that we don't need this country will be broke soon. The slots are a very bad idea because people will spend a lot more money on this instead of things they need. So I think everybody should vote no.

No I don't that we should have single-gender because to me it's normal to have boys and girls in classes together. I think we learn better because in books and thing they say that girls are smarter then boys and so we could teach them things and they can teach us things.

The one aspect is the women do all the cooking and cleaning. If they didn't do all of this who would get it done. The men go to work and the childern go to school so they can't do it. The women kinda have to do the work. But in South Portland most of all men and women go to work and the kids have chores when they get home from school. So both culture are very different.

The culture of Grover's Corners is very old fashion. Meaning that the women do all the work around the house and the men go to work in the town.  The women cook and clean and do everything to make the men happy. Now a days the women and the men go to work everyday so life has changed a lot.

Yes because I love fireworks. Also if Portland was to band fireworks I don't think South Portland should follow what Portland dose. Everybody loves fireworks on the 4th of July  but sometimes once a year isn't always enough for people so if we were aloud fireworks in South Portland then it would be great for everybody.

One of the things that make up me from my culture is in Italy  the family spends a lot of time together.  So every Saturday me and all my family get together and have dinner. On Saturday we have a lot of fun because we get to talk to everybody and see everybody.

Pieces of the old school so that people will never forget  how the school looked before. Also i would put in year books so that people can see would went to this school and dressed and how they made uo the school and how they showed riot pride.

No I don't think its a good idea because were just waisting money on stupid things when we could use it to fix roads and other things. But its also a good idea because it will bring in a lot of people preforming and then a lot of people will buy the ticket so she them. So im in between on this.

Only one thing surprised me is that they said that we use there first names to say hello. Most of the time I use peoples last names. They also say not to be more then 10 minutes late but most all Americans are late to everything its just a fact of life.

9/12/11 American/Italian/Irish culture

My culture is American/Italian/Irish. I celebrate my culture my eating Italian food that my aunt makes from scratch. I also celebrate st.Patrick's day with my whole family. I don't really celebrate my American culture. The only time I do celebrate my American culture is holidays.

I read a book about this girl who parents are no longer together so she went to vist her dad over the summer. Her step mom just had a baby and the dad could not handle it so he was thinking about leaving but she helps him through it. When shes there she also finds a boy who she falls in love with . I did no like this book because its just not my type of book
